在寒冷的气候条件下,人们通常把热带植物当作一年生植物来种植,这些植物会在冬季枯死,每年春天再更换新的。

不过,这些热带植物中有许多会形成球茎、块茎或鳞茎(俗称 "鳞茎"),只要在室内越冬,就可以年复一年地生长。

只要干点脏活累活,再加上少量的储藏空间,您就可以轻松地让娇嫩的鳞茎越冬。

何时挖掘球茎

挖掘热带鳞茎在室内越冬的最佳时间是秋季,在头几次霜冻将叶子变成褐色之后。 这将促使植物自然休眠。

您可以在任何方便的时候挖出嫩鳞茎,但必须在地面结冰前进行。

挖出块茎,然后储存过冬

我喜欢等到几场严霜把叶子冻死后,再挖出我的嫩鳞茎。

您可以在挖出鳞茎前将叶片剪到地面,也可以等到挖出并清理鳞茎后再去除叶片。

如何挖掘球茎

我更喜欢在挖鳞茎前剪掉大部分叶子,如果可能的话,留下足够的茎秆作为把手。

为避免损坏鳞茎,开始挖掘时要离植物茎部几英寸远。

挖出整个根球,使其松动,然后把它从土里捞出来。 挖出鳞茎时,一定要记住什么是什么(除非你喜欢惊喜)。

秋季挖掘花球茎

小心地松开鳞茎丛,尽可能多地清除泥土。 切掉紧紧缠绕的根部有助于这一过程。

但不需要把所有根部都切掉,这样做的目的是让根部松动,去除大部分泥土,并尽可能把各个球茎分开。

幼嫩的鳞茎可以作为一大块越冬,但将它们分开有助于防止腐烂和发霉。

丢弃任何腐烂的球茎

将鳞茎从花簇中分离出来时,要逐个检查,并丢弃有腐烂迹象的鳞茎。

健康的鳞茎质地坚实,而不是糊状。 在将鳞茎储存过冬之前,要先摘掉残留的叶子。

准备越冬的单球茎

为了减少过冬时嫩鳞茎腐烂或发霉的几率,在室内越冬前,先让鳞茎腌制(晾干)几小时或几天。

为此,我在车库地板上铺上报纸,然后把嫩灯泡铺在报纸上。

球茎越大,固化时间越长,小球茎固化一到两天,大球茎固化三到五天。

如何储存球茎植物过冬

嫩鳞茎固化后,就该把它们打包了。 我用的是纸箱,这样可以方便地堆放在地下室的角落里,但也可以用纸袋。

我不建议使用任何类型的塑料容器来越冬嫩鳞茎,除非通风良好。

你可以用报纸把每个球茎包起来,也可以用泥炭藓、椰子纤维、木屑(宠物垫料效果很好)或锯末把它们包起来。

另外,您也可以使用蛭石和珍珠岩的混合物来储存鳞茎。 无论您选择用什么介质来储存幼嫩的鳞茎,在包装前都要确保其相当干燥。

在泥炭藓中越冬的球茎植物

为防止腐烂在鳞茎之间蔓延,在包装时尽量不要让鳞茎相互接触。

别忘了给它们贴上标签,这样到了春天你就知道装的是什么了。

将幼嫩的鳞茎存放在阴凉(高于零度)和黑暗的地方过冬。

您可以在冬季定期检查它们,确保没有任何发霉或腐烂的迹象,并确保它们没有变干。
